Kidnappers Strike Grow Homes Estate in Kubwa, Abuja; Hostages Taken Amid Gunfire Exchange

A terrifying predawn raid unfolded at Grow Homes Estate in the Chikakore axis of Kubwa, Abuja, when a band of well-armed kidnappers invaded the estate and held residents hostage for over an hour early Monday morning.
According to eyewitnesses, the kidnappers abducted at least two individuals—a man and a woman. While the woman was later found within the estate, freed under unknown circumstances, the fate of the man and other possible victims remains unclear.
“The incident happened around 12 a.m. Those guys were well-armed, and they overpowered the local vigilance team,” one resident told reporters. “The police arrived around 1 a.m., and there was a fierce exchange of gunfire lasting about 30 minutes.”
The community has called on the authorities to improve security infrastructure, emphasizing the need for better road access and a local police station to ensure rapid response in emergencies.
“We are begging the government to fix this road for easy access for security patrol vehicles. We also beg the police and, of course, the FCT Administration to help site a station here for rapid response,” the resident pleaded.
