Man Overcome with Emotion Faints After Wife’s Triplets’ Birth in Lokoja

A dramatic scene unfolded at the Federal University Teaching Hospital, Lokoja, Kogi State, on Friday when Adamu Muhammed Tenimu fainted shortly after his wife delivered triplets. The three baby girls were born healthy, but the unexpected news overwhelmed the father.
Eyewitnesses said Muhammed collapsed immediately after learning about the triplets’ birth. Hospital staff and sympathizers rushed to his aid and successfully revived him. The mother and her triplets are currently stable.
In an emotional statement after regaining consciousness, Muhammed, a job seeker, expressed both joy and worry. “I thank God for this miracle, but I am confused and sad. I didn’t know we were expecting triplets. Right now, we don’t even have the means and financial capacity to pay the hospital bills, let alone care for three babies at once,” he said, tears flowing.
He explained that due to financial hardship, the pregnancy was not regularly scanned, and the family had only prepared for a single child. “This blessing is huge, but so is the burden. I don’t even have money to buy diapers or baby food. I don’t know where to start,” he lamented.
Family members and well-wishers have appealed for urgent help, emphasizing the need for medical supplies and financial support. “The babies are healthy, but this family needs help. We are calling on the government, NGOs, religious groups, and well-meaning Nigerians to support them,” a relative said.
Friends and colleagues have also mobilized to provide assistance. Mr. Nuhu Alhassan, a colleague, called on the Kogi State Government and the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development to intervene, noting Muhammed’s hardworking nature.
The triplets, weighing 1.8kg, 2.0kg, and 2.3kg, are under observation in the hospital’s neonatal unit and are responding well.
