NECO Denounces Fake Facebook Profile of Registrar Used for Fraud

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has publicly disowned a fake Facebook account created in the name of Professor Dantani Wushishi, its Registrar and Chief Executive. The counterfeit account is reportedly being exploited to defraud members of the public.
According to a statement made available to journalists in Abuja on Sunday by Mr. Azeez Sani, NECO’s Acting Director of Information and Public Relations, the Council is cautioning the public against engaging with the fraudulent profile. “The Council wishes to alert the public to the existence of this fake Facebook account to prevent individuals from falling victim to these fraudsters,” he stated.
Mr. Sani also confirmed that security agencies have been notified and that NECO is collaborating with them to ensure swift action is taken against those responsible for this deception.
The Council’s announcement underscores the increasing prevalence of online impersonation scams and highlights the need for vigilance when interacting with social media profiles claiming affiliation with official institutions.
