JUST IN: Confusion For Maina As Lawyer Applies To Leave Case

Maina’s lawyer has dumped the embattled PRTT Chairman.
OnyxNews Nigeria reports that a lawyer engaged by Abulrasheed Maina, fleeing former Chairman of Pension Reform Task Team (PRTT), Adeola Adedipe, in his ongoing trial for money laundering, has applied to leave the case.
Adedipe who is also representing the company of the former PRTT Chairman – Common Input Property and Investment Ltd, informed a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, at the resumption of sittings in the case on Wednesday, that he has filed a notice, indicating his intention to withdraw from further representing his client.
Maina’s lawyer, who said his brief has not been perfected (he has not been paid by his client), apologised to the federal court presided over Justice Okon Abang for being absent from proceedings during some of the adjournments made recently.
Adedipe’s lawyer came after Justice Okon Abang ruled on the previous day, that by being absent in court, Adedipe has abandoned proceedings, noted that the notice the lawyer claimed to have filed was not in the court’s file.
