PROTESTS: Kano State Govt Imposes 24-hour Curfew
The Governor of Kano State, Abba Yusuf, has enforced a 24-hour curfew in response to violent protests stemming from economic hardships in the state.
This decision was announced by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Tofa, following an Emergency State Security Council meeting aimed at tackling the escalating unrest and disruptions witnessed during civil demonstrations.
The primary objective behind the curfew implementation is to ensure the protection of lives and safeguard public as well as private property.
The unanimous agreement to impose the curfew was reached during the emergency meeting with the security of citizens being a top priority.
“The imposition of this curfew is a necessary measure to restore order and ensure the safety of our communities.
“It is paramount that we protect our citizens from further harm and preserve the sanctity of our state’s institutions and businesses,” he said.
The governor has appealed to all residents to demonstrate solidarity and vigilance during these challenging circumstances.
“Let us not allow the actions of a few selfish individuals to divide us.
“Together, we can navigate these challenges and fortify our resolve to build a stronger, more resilient Kano State,” he said.
It has been emphasized in the statement that all security agencies have been instructed to ensure strict adherence to the curfew, and citizens are urged to comply with this directive for their own safety and that of the community.
