Labour Party Affirms Abure’s Leadership, Disagrees with Supreme Court Interpretation

The Labour Party (LP) has officially stated that Julius Abure continues to serve as its National Chairman, directly addressing the recent Supreme Court ruling concerning the party’s leadership.
Following the Supreme Court’s judgment, which determined that the Court of Appeal lacked the authority to rule on the LP’s internal leadership, the party has issued a formal response. Through a statement released by National Publicity Secretary Obiora Ifoh, the LP has contested the interpretation of the court’s decision.
“The Supreme Court strikes out Nenadi and Abure suits, saying only political parties can determine who their leaders are. Dr. Julius Abure is still the National Chairman of the Labour Party,” the official statement asserts.
This official communication from the Labour Party indicates a clear difference in interpretation of the Supreme Court’s ruling and signals the party’s intent to maintain Julius Abure’s position. The legal and political implications of this stance are currently unfolding.
