JAMB Guarantees 2025 UTME Will Be Within State of Registration

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has assured prospective candidates for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) that they will sit for the exam within their state of registration. This assurance was given by Dr. Fabian Benjamin, JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, in a telephone interview in Abuja.

Dr. Benjamin clarified that the instances of some candidates taking the mock UTME outside their state of residence, due to limited availability of approved Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres, were specific to the mock exercise. He explained that during the mock, candidates might have been redirected to available centers in neighboring states if those within their registered state were full.

However, Dr. Benjamin firmly stated that this situation would not occur during the main UTME, scheduled to begin on April 25, 2025, as more CBT centres would be operational. He also highlighted the importance of early registration in potentially securing a centre closer to a candidate’s residence, noting that later registrants might be assigned any available centre within their state if closer ones are full. JAMB also reported that over two million candidates have registered for the 2025 UTME and are focusing on anti-cheating measures. The board recently released mock UTME results for over 115,000 candidates, with some still being processed.
