Workers Day: Minister Oyetola Promises Enhanced Infrastructure and Security for Nigeria’s Maritime Sector

As Nigeria celebrates International Workers Day on May 1, Minister Adegboyega Oyetola of Marine and Blue Economy has pledged the Federal Government’s unwavering support for maritime workers.
In a statement signed by his Media and Communications Adviser, Dr. Bolaji Akinola, the minister recognized the vital role maritime workers play in the nation’s economic advancement and pledged to prioritize investments in infrastructure, technology, and workforce training.
Oyetola praised maritime workers nationwide for their dedication and resilience, noting their critical role in ensuring the efficient operation of ports and inland waterways. He stated, “Without your daily sacrifices and commitment to excellence, our ports and inland waterways would not function as efficiently as they do.”
Highlighting the ministry’s strategic plans, he assured that efforts would focus on creating a secure and innovative maritime sector that supports job creation and national development. The minister urged continued partnership between government, labour unions, and private sector players to maintain a motivated and competitive maritime workforce.
