JAMB to Reschedule UTME for 379,997 Candidates Affected by Technical Glitches in South East, Lagos
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the rescheduling of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) for 379,997 candidates affected by technical disruptions in Lagos and across the South East.
This was disclosed by the Registrar of JAMB, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, during a press briefing in Abuja on Wednesday. He revealed that the affected candidates will receive text messages from Thursday with details of their rescheduled examination dates.
According to Oloyede, “206,610 in 65 centres were affected in Lagos and 92 centres in the Owerri zone comprising 173,387 candidates in the five states of the South East were affected.”
Taking full responsibility for the mishap, the registrar described the issue as a case of “sabotage” and extended an apology to the affected candidates. “I apologise, I take full responsibility,” he said.
The decision follows public outcry after over 1.5 million of the 1.9 million candidates who sat the 2025 UTME reportedly scored below 200 out of the possible 400 marks—raising nationwide concerns about the credibility of the examination process.
