Sallah 2025: Tinubu’s Economic Reform Progress and Nationwide Security Deployment Mark Nigeria’s Eid Celebrations

President Bola Tinubu, in his 2025 Eid-el-Kabir (Sallah) message, called on Nigerians to be patient with ongoing economic reforms, assuring that “the toughest days are behind us.” Speaking on Thursday, he acknowledged the difficulties but noted positive movement in key economic indicators.

“Our reforms are gaining traction… Soon, all will feel the benefits,” Tinubu said, urging Nigerians to hold on to faith and perseverance.

He stressed the reforms’ ultimate goal is to transform lives and ensure sustainable development. “Our administration will continue acting in the nation’s best interest,” he added.

The President also appealed for prayers for the armed forces and security personnel protecting the nation. “Let us dedicate this sacred celebration to seeking God’s guidance and blessings for our country,” he said.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, and governors across Nigeria sent Eid greetings, urging unity, compassion, and prayers for the country’s prosperity. Atiku called on leaders to prioritize people’s welfare, while Abbas emphasized sacrifice as central to overcoming challenges.

Governors from Ogun, Ekiti, Katsina, Bauchi, Gombe, Oyo, and others highlighted the importance of peace, love, and security during Sallah, urging citizens to adhere to safety protocols.

The Nigeria Police Force, under IGP Kayode Egbetokun, deployed patrol teams and intensified security operations nationwide. The force focused on securing prayer grounds, public spaces, and highways to prevent disturbances.

Heavy traffic congestion was reported on key highways like Mararaba-Abuja and Abuja-Kaduna as thousands traveled for the festival. The Federal Road Safety Corps deployed personnel to manage traffic and ensure smooth movement.

Lawmakers such as Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu and Senator Sunday Karimi donated livestock, food, and cash to Muslim communities, encouraging generosity during the celebrations.

Economic challenges persisted, with livestock prices soaring due to border closures and inflation. Traders and buyers expressed concerns about affordability, while Islamic clerics reminded that sacrifice is a Sunnah emphasizing piety.

Security agencies across states including Katsina, Plateau, Borno, Gombe, Benue, Yobe, Kebbi, Edo, Kano, and Kogi implemented comprehensive security plans to ensure peaceful Sallah celebrations.
