Lafia Anglican Bishop Charges President Tinubu to Address Nigeria’s Insecurity and Economic Challenges at Their Roots

Rt. Rev. Godwin Robinson, Bishop of Lafia Anglican Diocese, has called on President Bola Tinubu to focus on the root causes of Nigeria’s insecurity and economic hardships. Delivering the Bishop’s Charge at the 9th Synod’s 2nd session in Lafia on Saturday, Robinson emphasized that only by tackling these core issues can lasting peace and development be achieved.
The synod, themed “Keep the Flame Alive on the Altar,” served as a backdrop for the bishop’s call for structural reforms aimed at eradicating injustice, insecurity, and underdevelopment. “Structural reforms must address the root causes of injustice, insecurity and underdevelopment,” he declared.
Robinson lauded President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda but urged that efforts be intensified to ensure its benefits reach the poor, displaced, unemployed, and marginalized citizens. “We call on the government to ensure that renewed hope becomes real hope for the poor, the displaced, the jobless and the marginalised,” he said.
Drawing inspiration from Leviticus 6:13, the bishop reminded Nigerians of their spiritual duty to serve God and humanity by keeping the altar fire burning and passing this sacred trust to future generations. He described the altar fire as a “divine-human partnership” that priests must uphold through consistent and faithful service.
He urged clerics and synod delegates to follow the example of the Levites who maintained the altar fire by clearing ashes, providing fresh wood, and offering daily sacrifices. “One of the greatest failures in ministry and life is neglecting this sacred duty of trans-generational faithfulness,” Robinson warned.
The bishop also encouraged believers to establish personal altars where God can meet them in quiet reflection, emphasizing that “The fire of God’s Altar must not be allowed to die” in churches, homes, hearts, or the nation.
The synod attracted clerics and delegates from all churches within the Diocese, reaffirming the church’s commitment to spiritual vitality and national progress.
