Akpabio Assures National Assembly Will Resolve Rivers State Political Crisis

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has assured Nigerians that the National Assembly will play a pivotal role in resolving the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State.
Speaking on Thursday at the commissioning of the Kugbo Taxi and Bus Terminal in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Akpabio emphasized that efforts are in motion to restore peace and political stability in the state. According to him, the legislature is committed to fostering reconciliation among all parties involved in the conflict.
“We are determined to ensure that normalcy returns to Rivers State. The National Assembly will work closely with all stakeholders to achieve lasting peace and development,” he stated.
The crisis in Rivers State, which erupted three months ago, led to the suspension of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy, and members of the State House of Assembly. President Bola Tinubu had earlier declared a state of emergency in the state and placed Governor Fubara on a six-month suspension.
In recent developments, Governor Fubara has held talks with President Tinubu and the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, his former political ally turned rival, in a bid to mend fences. Wike has publicly expressed willingness to reconcile and urged Fubara to engage other stakeholders in the state to facilitate peace.
As tension continues, all eyes remain on the National Assembly’s intervention to chart a path toward resolution and stability in Rivers State.
