Awujale Of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Passes Away At 91— Details Of His Demise Emerge

Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, the esteemed monarch of Ijebuland, has died at the age of 91. He passed on in the late hours of Sunday.

Born on May 10, 1934, Oba Adetona was until his death the traditional ruler of the Ijebu Kingdom in Nigeria.

He ascended the throne on April 2, 1960, making him one of the longest-serving monarchs in the country. He belonged to the House of Anikinaiya.

His passing occurred just hours after the death of his longtime friend, Muhammadu Buhari, was announced. Buhari died at a clinic in London, United Kingdom, following a prolonged illness.
