BREAKING: Phyna’s Sister Ruth Otabor Passed Away After Accident

Ruth Otabor, sister of Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner Phyna, has passed away.

Her family confirmed the news on Sunday in a statement issued through Eko Solicitors & Advocates, noting that Ruth died at about 6:30 a.m. that day.

“With a heavy heart, the family regrets to announce the passing on to glory of their daughter, sister, and mother on this 31st Day of August, 2025 at about 06:30Hrs,” the statement read.

They expressed their deep grief and appealed for privacy as they mourn their loss.

“The family is presently grieving and will appreciate to be given a private moment to mourn the departed.

“The funeral arrangement will be communicated to the public in due course,” the statement added.

Just weeks earlier, Ruth had been involved in a tragic accident. On Wednesday, August 13, 2025, she was struck by a Dangote Group truck near Auchi Polytechnic in Edo State.

Eyewitnesses reported that the heavy-duty vehicle crushed her leg before a bystander managed to stop it.

She later underwent a leg amputation as a result of the incident.

The accident came only six days after Ruth’s graduation from Auchi Polytechnic. Her sudden passing has left family, friends, and well-wishers in shock.
