Just In: Nigeria cases of coronavirus rises, Edo detects suspected cases

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced new cases of COVID-19.
The centre said 14 fresh cases of the pandemic has been detected in Nigeria. Bringing the cases of the virus to 288. 51 discharged while seven have been reported dead.
The centre announced this development via it official Twitter handle.
“Fourteen new cases of #COVID19 have been reported in Nigeria: 13 in Lagos and 1 in Delta State As at 09:30 pm 9th April there are 288 confirmed cases of #COVID19 reported in Nigeria. Fifty-one have been discharged with seven deaths,” NCDC tweeted.
Meanwhile, the Edo State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Patrick Okundia, has revealed that there are nine new suspected cases of the deadly coronavirus (COVID-19) in the state pointing out that the samples of the patients have been collected and sent to the Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital (ISTH) for diagnosis.
Speaking with reporters in Benin on the development, the state commissioner, urged residents to stay at home and observe other precautionary measures to stop continuous spread of the disease.
Okundia said the nine samples were collected in four local government area which includes: four (4) in Esan West, two (2) in Esan Central, two (2) in Oredo, and one (1) in Orhionmwon LGAs.
Although, he revealed that all coronavirus patients in the state are responding well to treatment.
He also pointed out that vehicles with passengers in the state are not obeying the lay down social distancing directives.
