Reps urge FG to suspend electricity tariffs increase

The Federal Goverment of Nigeria through Ministry of Power has been asked by House of Representatives to suspend the plan to increase the electricity tariff until the embargo is lifted by the National Assembly.
The House Committee on Power, which met with the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission and distribution companies in Abuja on Tuesday, asked that the policy, which was slated to be implemented with effect on 1 April, 2020 remain on hold until the Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila, concludes his engagements with the critical stakeholders.
