Onyxnewsng reports that Emir Sanusi’s was dethroned after the Kano State Council Executive meeting led by the state Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje on Monday 9, March.
The Director-General, Media and Communications, Kano State Government, Salihu Yakasai, had confirmed on his verified Twitter handle, @Dawisu, today.
“The Kano State Executive Council has unanimously approved the dethronement of the Emir of Kano Mallam Muhammad Sanusi II at a special sitting held today by the council.”
Onyxnewsng also reports that Emir Sanusi ascended the throne in 2014, after the death of his granduncle Ado Bayero. His grandfather Muhammadu Sanusi I reigned from 1953 to 1963, when he was deposed by Premier Ahmadu Bello. His father Aminu Sanusi was Ciroma of Kano.
Meanwhile, Kano State governor Ganduje has announced Aminu Ado Bayero as the new emir of Kano, a few hours after Muhammadu Sanusi was dethroned.
