Why Trump threatened to shutdown social media

Reasons US President Donald Trump threatened to shut down social media has emerged.
Onyxnews Nigeria reports that this threat is coming after Twitter put a fact-check label on some of Trump’s tweets.
There has been criticism against social media platforms regarding the lack of restraint on leaders who use the medium to make unsubstantiated claims.
This reliable online news platform gathered that on Tuesday, Trump had tweeted that mail-in ballots were fraudulent.
This was fact checked by Twitter — an action which provoked the US president.
Twitter put a warning on Trump’s tweet: “Get the facts about mail-in ballots,” and redirected users to news articles about the president’s unproven claim.
Then today, 27 May in a tweet, Trump said social media was silencing the voices of conservatives, and that the platforms will be regulated or closed down before they totally silence conservatives.
”Republicans feel that Social Media Platforms totally silence conservatives voices. We will strongly regulate, or close them down, before we can ever allow this to happen. We saw what they attempted to do, and failed, in 2016. We can’t let a more sophisticated version of that happen again,” he tweeted.
”Just like we can’t let large scale Mail-In Ballots take root in our Country. It would be a free for all on cheating, forgery and the theft of Ballots. Whoever cheated the most would win. Likewise, Social Media. Clean up your act, NOW!!!!”
