Breaking: Orji Uzor Kalu back to senate, resumes duty as Chief Whip (Photo/Video)
Senator and a former governor of Abia state, Orji Uzor Kalu on Tuesday returned to the Senate after his release from prison.
Kalu resumed his duty as Chief whip of the Senate after six months at the Custodial centre of the Nigerian Correctional Service in Abuja.
Kalu was convicted in December, 2019 after his was found guilty of perpetuated fraud while he was governor of Abia state. He was released last week after the Supreme court nullified his trial and ordered a retrial weeks ago.
Today’s morning Tuesday, 9 June 2020, he was seen as he matched into the Red Chamber with Senate President Ahmad Lawan and other Principal officers.
The Senate President thereafter, formally welcomed the embattled Senator back to the Senate.

Immediately Supreme Court declared its judgement over Kanu’s case, the former Abia State governor had said he learnt some lesson while in jail.
He explained that his five months in jail gave him the opportunity of learning “invaluable lessons” about Nigeria and the citizenry.
Onyxnews Nigeria reported that Kalu, who is representing Abia North Senatorial District at the red chamber, stated this while reacting to a Supreme Court judgment delivered in his favour.
