Governor dies of COVID-19 complication
Governor of Venezuela’s Caracas capital district, Dario Vivas died on Thursday.
He died of COVID-19 complications.
Vivas, a strong associate of President Nicolas Maduro, announced on July 19 2020, that he had tested positive for the disease.
Vice president Delcy Rodriguez made the disclosure via micro-blogging site, Twitter on Thursday.
“He died in combat…taking care of his health and all of us in this difficult battle against the COVID-19 pandemic,” Vice President Delcy Rodriguez wrote via Twitter.
Vivas is the third high-level Venezuelan official to be tested positive to coronavirus.
As of Thursday, the northern South America had reported 29,088 cases of COVID-19 with 247 deaths.
