US President, Donald Trump’s former political strategist, Steve Bannon and three others have been arrested.
OnyxNews Nigeria gathered that Bannon was allegedly arrested on Wednesday night for his role in an online fundraising programme.
The NBC reports that Bannon was charged with fraud by a Manhattan attorney for defrauding people of millions of dollars.
In a statement by acting US Attorney, Audrey Strauss, it stated that Bannon was said to have capitalized on donors’ interest in building a border wall to raise millions of dollars later channelled to fund the “lavish lifestyle” of “We Build The Wall” founder and public face Brian Kolfage.
According to the US attorney’s office, Bannon will make his first court appearance in New York later on Thursday.
Bannon, Kolfage, Andrew Badolato and Timothy Shea are charged with one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and one count of conspiracy to commit money laundering.
