Edo 2020: Tinubu reveals why he has been silent on Edo election since PDP won

After the Edo state gubernatorial elections, Tinubu has declared he has nothing to say now but would talk at the “appropriate time”.

OnyxNews Nigeria reports that the National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Ahmed Bola Tinubu has revealed that he will not speak concerning the party’s loss in the Edo state gubernatorial election until the right time comes.

Recall that Governor Godwin Obaseki who contested on PDP’s platform won the Governorship elections which polled 307,955 votes to defeat his opponent, Osagie Ize-Iyamu of APC who pulled 223,619 votes.

The Edo state election’s results was announced on Sunday, 20th September 2020; declaring Obaseki the winner of the election and received his certificate back to office on Monday, 20 September.

However, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has presented the certificate of returns to Governor Godwin Obaseki and his deputy, Philip Shaibu at the INEC branch office in Benin City, Edo state capital.

Speaking to newsmen, Tunde Rahman, a spokesman to Ahmed Bola Tinubu states that “Asiwaju will speak at the appropriate time“.

Meanwhile, the President, Muhammadu Buhari and Nigeria’s ruling party, All Progressive Congress’s party had since on Monday accepted defeat and has congratulated the re-elected governor, Godwin Obaseki.
