According to the Islamic doctrines, hugs and handshakes between the opposite sex who have not tied the knot are forbidden practices and are usually seen as a move against the faith.
However, in a recent photo which surfaced online, Garba Shehu who happens to be a practising Muslim was spotted in a bodily posture that looked as if he was leaning in to hug a woman with open arms even though there is no actual proof of him hugging the said lady.
The photo made some Muslims angry and they took to social media to blast the presidential spokesperson, describing the act as “disgracing the Islamic religion.”
A Facebook user, identified as Abbas Adam Ibrahim who shared the photo wrote,
“THIS IS AN INTERNATIONAL DISGRACE TO ISLAM INDEED”.
