World Cup 2022 takes place in Qatar from November 21 to December 18; 32 teams to compete in eight groups;
When and where will the World Cup be held in 2022?
Due to the heat, the 2022 World Cup will be held in Qatar during the winter months rather than the summer.
The tournament begins on Monday, November 21 at the Al Bayt stadium in Al Khor, with a match featuring the host nation.
The final will take place a week before Christmas on Sunday, December 18 at Doha’s Lusail Stadium.
How to watch the group stage draw for the 2022 World Cup
On Fifa’s official website, YouTube, and social media channels, the draw will be live-streamed.
The draw will also be covered on SuperSport 2 and 3 channels.
World Cup 2022 Team Involved Qatar, who will compete in the finals for the first time, qualified for the tournament automatically because they are the hosts, while the other 31 countries had to go through a rigorous qualification process.
Cameroon, Ghana, Morocco, Senegal, and Tunisia will represent Africa, while Iran, Japan, Saudi Arabia, and South Korea will represent the AFC.
North America, Central America, and the Caribbean are represented by Canada, Mexico, and the United States. Belgium, Croatia, Denmark, England, France, Germany, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Serbia, Spain, and Switzerland will represent Uefa, while Argentina, Brazil, Ecuador, and Uruguay will represent South America.
The final European spot will be decided in June, with Scotland playing Ukraine in a playoff semi-final, with the winner facing Wales.
Ghana qualified after defeating Nigeria, while Tunisia and Morocco defeated Mali and the Democratic Republic of Congo, respectively.
When is the draw?
The draw for the tournament takes place on Friday 1 April 2022, at the DECC venue in Doha, Qatar at circa 5pm (West Africa Time )
What is the format of the draw?
The 32 nations involved in the 2022 World Cup will be drawn into eight groups of four.
The qualified teams will be seeded into four pots, with their positions determined by the Fifa rankings, which will be released on March 31st, 2022.
Qatar will take position A1 in Pot 1 as the hosts, with the seven highest-ranked qualified teams filling the remaining spots in the pot.
POT 1: Qatar, Belgium, Brazil, France, Argentina, England, Spain, Portugal.
POT 2: Denmark, Netherlands, Germany, Mexico, United States, Switzerland, Croatia, Uruguay.
POT 3: Senegal, Iran, Japan, Morocco, Serbia, Poland, South Korea, Tunisia.
POT 4: Australia/United Arab Emirates/Peru, New Zealand/Costa Rica, Ukraine/Scotland/Wales, Saudi Arabia, Ecuador, Ghana, Cameroon, Canada.
