BREAKING: Labour Party Candidate, Olumide Attacked In Lagos

Olumide Oworu, the Labour Party (LP) candidate for the Surulere Constituency 1 seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly, was attacked during his campaign in the Surulere area of the state.

The 28-year-old actor turned politician narrowly escaped unharmed when some unidentified hoodlums suspected of being political thugs attacked his team during an LP campaign walk on Thursday, March 16, 2023.

Olumide Oworu, best known for his role as ‘Tari Johnson’ in the Africa Magic Series ‘The Johnsons,’ has only recently announced his candidature for the Labour Party in Lagos

Speaking about the incident, the 28-year-old revealed on his verified Twitter account that some members of his team were injured during the attack.

He further assured his supporters that he would not be deterred but rather that he would be more committed to seeing through the campaign.

“My team and I were attacked on Tuesday as we attempted to campaign at Iponri, Surulere. A member of my team was injured, but we are thankful the incident didn’t escalate past the level it was. The case has been reported at the Iponri police station.

I am not deterred by the incident. Instead, I am more committed to seeing this through. We will pass through the wards in constituency 1 (Akinhanmi/Cole, Adeniran/Ogunsanya, Iponri Housing Estate/Eric Moore, Igbaja/Stadium, Shitta/Ogunlana Drive, Yaba/Ojuelegba). See you outside!”, he wrote on Twitter.
