The International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) has disapproved the act of burying 11-year-old Friday Oshodi alive in Kogi State.

Ajuma Lilian Okolo, The Kogi State chairperson of FIDA in a statement released on Saturday, described the act as wicked, heartless, and unacceptable in modern society.

She, while ensuring that the body, FIDA will ensure that justice is served on all the suspects involved in the crime, added that the organisation is already liaising with constituted authorities to restore life to the victim.

Okolo further stated that Nigerians should ensure that the rights of children are well protected in the country, stressing that the Violence Against Person Prohibition (VAPP) Law will ensure that no child is subjected to any form of maltreatment.

Ajuma said: “When I saw the viral video of how this young boy was buried alive by his stepbrother, I couldn’t hold back my tears. This is wickedness at its peak. All those involved in this wicked act will not go unpunished. FIDA, in collaboration with other NGOs, will ensure that the culprits will face the maximum wrath of the law. For the victim, FIDA is also arranging for the boy to live a normal life among his peers“.
