PDP’s Amos Yohanna Replaces APC Elisha Abbo In The Senate Chamber

Amos Yohanna of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, was sworn in as the senator representing Adamawa North Senatorial District on Wednesday.
The oath was carried out by the Deputy Senate President, Jibrin Barau.
Recall that last week, All Progressives Congress, APC Elisha Abbo, who was representing Adamawa North, was sacked by the Court of Appeal.
The judgement followed Yohanna’s suit against Abbo, candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, before the tribunal challenging the outcome of the senatorial election.
The petitioner argued that Abbo’s election should be invalidated for corrupt practices and violations of the Electoral Act, 2022.
Yohanna also cited over-voting at various polling units, false entries, as well as alteration and cancellation of votes at several polling units.
The appeal court upheld the dismissal of Yohanna’s petition.
