Court Postponed Naira Marley’s Cyber Crime Case
A Federal High Court branch in Lagos state has postponed the continuation of trial of Marlians record Boss, Azeez Fashola, popularly called Naira Marley, accused with cybercrime until November 13 and 30.
Justice Nicholas Oweibo postponed the case on Monday following the absence of Naira Marley from court.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is prosecuting Naira Marley on charges relating to cyber crime.
The EFCC charged Naira Marley and others with conspiracy and fraud, and the court granted him bail in the amount of N2 million, with two sureties.
According to the EFCC, Naira Marley and his co-defendants used different Access Bank ATM cards to defraud victims.
The trial has begun and is ongoing.
Recall that the police in Lagos state had detained Naira Marley and his partner , Sam Larry, following their suspect in the death Nigerian singer, Oladimeji Aloba, a. k. a Mohbad.
Mr Olalekan Ojo (SAN) revealed to the the court on Monday when the case was called on, that Naira Marley was still clearly absent from his trial, inspite of the court’s order for his production.
The prosecutor informed the court that although she had requested a production warrant for the defendant, he was still absent from the proceedings.
The court consequently postponed the case until Nov. 13 and 30 for continuation of trial
