Burna Boy, Davido, And Three others Nominated For The 66th Edition Of Grammy Award
Burna Boy, a Grammy-winning star, has received four nominations for the 2024 Grammy Awards. This achievement highlights his remarkable talent and contribution to the music industry. Additionally, several other notable Nigerian artists have earned nominations for the first time.
Davido, Asake, Arya Starr, and Olamide have all been recognized for their exceptional musical abilities and creativity. While Davido secured three nominations, the others received one each. The five Nigerian artists were all nominated in the inaugural Best African Music Performance category, alongside South Africa’s Tyla, demonstrating the increasing global recognition of African music.
The nominees in this newly created category include Asake and Olamide’s ‘Amapiano’, Burna Boy’s ‘City Boys’, Ayra Starr’s ‘Rush’, Davido and Musa Keys’ ‘Unavailable’, and Tyla’s ‘Water’. These songs represent the diversity and richness of African music, showcasing the immense talent within the continent.
In addition to the Best African Music Performance category, Burna Boy also earned nominations for ‘Sitting On Top of the World’ featuring 21 Savage in the Best Melodic Rap category, ‘I Told Them’ in the Best Global Music Album category, and ‘Alone’ in the Best Global Music Performance category. These nominations further underline Burna Boy’s versatility and influence in the global music scene.
Davido, alongside his Best African Music Performance nomination, received nods for ‘Timeless’ in the Best Global Music Album category and ‘Feel’ in the Best Global Music Performance category. These nominations reflect Davido’s continued success and recognition as a prominent artist.
The 66th Grammy Awards ceremony is scheduled to take place on February 4, 2024, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. This prestigious event will bring together renowned artists from around the world, celebrating their contributions to the music industry and recognizing their exceptional talent.
