IMO Election: INEC Begins Collation Of Result
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is currently engaged in the collation of results for the Imo State governorship election.
The collation process is being conducted under the guidance of the returning officer, Prof Abayomi Fasina, who is the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University in Oye, Ekiti.
This procedure commenced at 2:40am on Sunday at the collation centre located in Owerri, the capital of Imo State.
The prompt compilation of election results is significant as it allows for a timely determination of the outcome.
In this case, the results are being collated within a short timeframe after the governorship election, which occurred on Saturday.
It is worth noting that this election is one of three off-season elections that took place in Nigeria on the same day.
However, there have been reports and videos circulating on social media depicting party agents protesting the rapid collation of results at the collation venue.
The concerns raised by these agents regarding the speed of the process are yet to be fully understood or addressed.
In terms of the candidates involved in this election, Governor Hope Uzodimma of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is seeking re-election.
The other prominent candidates are Athan Achonu from the Labour Party and Samuel Anyanwu from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
