Just In: Federal High Court Adjourns Godwin Emefiele’s Case Till 18 January 2024
The trial in the alleged procurement fraud case against former Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Godwin Emefiele, has been adjourned until January 18, 2024, by the Federal Capital Territory High Court.
Emefiele is accused of using his position to grant a corrupt advantage to a CBN staff member, Sa’adatu Yaro, by awarding a contract for the procurement of 43 vehicles worth N1.2 billion between 2018 and 2020.
Following his arrest, Emefiele was remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre, and his bail application was heard on November 22.
Justice Hamza Muazu granted him bail in the sum of N300 million, with the condition of producing two sureties who have certificates of occupancy and titles of properties within the Maitama district in Abuja.
However, Emefiele remains in custody as he has not yet met his bail conditions.
He was recently brought to court but was taken away by armed personnel of the Nigerian Correctional Service.
