Rivers Guber: Appeal Court Dismissed Tony-Cole’s Petition, Affirming Gov Fubara
The Appeal Court in Lagos State recently made a decision regarding a petition filed by Tonye-Cole, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), against Siminalayi Fubara, the Rivers State Governor from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Tonye-Cole sought the court’s direction to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), urging them to declare him the winner of the March governorship election.
During the court proceedings, Tonye-Cole argued that Fubara was still acting as the Accountant-General of the State while also being the governorship candidate for the PDP. He also raised concerns about election irregularities and other related issues.
In October, the Rivers State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal dismissed Tonye-Cole’s petition, stating that the APC, which sponsored him, had withdrawn their petition against Fubara’s victory.
However, dissatisfied with the tribunal’s judgment, Tonye-Cole decided to bring his case to the appellate court in search of a different outcome.
