‘Why I Invited Pasuma, Portable To Celestial Church’ – Lagos Celestial Church Pastor Explains
Aderemi Dabiri, The founder of a Celestial Church of Christ branch in Lagos State explained that he invited famous fuji singer Pasuma and Afrobeats rising star Portable to the church’s praise night in order to reach a wider audience.
Following the announcement of Pasuma and Portable as guest artistes at a Celestial Church of Christ event, the church received some backlash on social media.
In response to this, Aderemi Dabiri, explained that his intention was to bring more people into the church through music that appeals to a wider audience.
In a video that went viral, Mr. Dabiri stated that it is his hope that this initiative will help to convert more people to the faith.
“It is not our first time inviting guest artistes. We have been doing it without a problem and I can give you a series of instances. We can’t go where they sell palm wine or alcoholic drinks and ask them to accept Jesus Christ. If I don’t apply wisdom, they will hit bottle on my head. That was why I thought of a way to bring them into the church,” he said.
Dabiri added that, “Some of the gospel singers are rude. Some of them respond to you rudely, but the day I called Pasuma, he sounded respectful on the phone and also agreed with my stance,” While criticising some gospel singers for their disrespectful behavior.
Despite the backlash, Mr. Dabiri remained committed to his method of evangelism and called on members of the Celestial Church worldwide to support him.
He stated that he believes that his approach can bring pride to the church and help it to grow.
He also emphasized the importance of inclusivity and reaching out to those who may not otherwise feel welcome in the church.
