Just In: 27 Rivers Assembly Members Defect From PDP To APC
Twenty-seven members of the Rivers State House of Assembly have reportedly defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
This is a significant political shift, as the members of the House of Assembly are now split between the two major political parties in the state.
The members of the Assembly who defected are all loyal to former Governor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
The lawmakers met in plenary at 8am on Monday, where they made the decision to defect.
This means that the majority of the Assembly members are now in support of the APC, which could have major implications for the state’s political future.
The session was held under tight security at the entrance of the Assembly complex on Moscow Road in Port Harcourt.
