The Nigerian Federal Government has announced the declaration of public holidays on Monday and Tuesday, December 25 and 26, 2023, as well as Monday, January 1, 2024, to commemorate Christmas and New Year’s Day respectively.
This decision was made by the Honorable Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the government, as he extends his warm wishes to Christians and all Nigerians both within the country and abroad.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo urged Christians to follow the exemplary life of Jesus Christ, embodying values such as humility, service, compassion, and patience.
He emphasized the importance of peace and security as crucial elements for the economic progress and prosperity of the nation.
Assuring the public, he stated that the Federal Government, under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, will implement effective measures to ensure the safety of lives and property.
In light of prevailing security concerns, Dr. Tunji-Ojo urged Nigerians to exercise vigilance and promptly report any suspicious individuals or activities to the nearest security agencies.
He reiterated that the festive season demands discipline from every citizen, aiming to protect the lives and property of individuals within their respective communities and the entire nation.
Furthermore, the minister encouraged all citizens to maintain their focus, remaining optimistic that the year 2024 will bring about positive change as part of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda.
