Gov Oyebanji Inaugrates New Council Chairmen In Ekiti State
Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, recently inaugurated the 38 newly elected local government chairmen in the state.
During the ceremony, the governor emphasized the importance of prioritizing improved security and revenue generation in their respective council areas.
He also urged the chairmen to build upon the accomplishments of their predecessors and emphasized that his administration would not tolerate any security lapses at the local government level.
The election of these new council chairmen took place on December 2, 2023, in Ekiti State.
In addressing the chairmen, Governor Oyebanji, represented by Deputy Governor Chief (Mrs) Monisade Afuye, commended the immediate past chairmen, as well as those who were reelected, for showcasing strong political and administrative abilities despite the various challenges associated with being pioneers.
Expressing zero tolerance for corruption and pilfering of council funds, the governor urged them to discharge their duties with utmost “honesty, impartiality, even-handedness, compassion and fairness”, adding that they must work assiduously for the actualisation of the shared prosperity mantra of his government.
Governor Oyebanji further expressed his commitment to promoting democracy by initiating the local government elections. This decision reflects his desire to ensure that the councils are administered in a democratic manner.
