AFCON 2023: Six Countries Secured Quarter-finals Spot [Full list]
A total of eight teams have secured their spots in the quarter-finals of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Cape Verde and Ivory Coast are the most recent nations to advance to the next round of the tournament.
Cape Verde narrowly defeated Mauritania 1-0 on Monday night, thanks to a late penalty converted by Ryan Mendes.
In the second match of the day, Ivory Coast progressed to the quarter-finals by defeating defending champions Senegal in a penalty shootout.
The game ended 1-1 in regular time, with Franck Kessie’s penalty leveling the score after Habib Diallo’s early goal for Senegal.
Both Cape Verde and Ivory Coast will discover their quarter-final opponents after the matches on Tuesday.
The other quarter-final matchups include Nigeria against Angola and Guinea against DR Congo.
