Luis Fuente Extends Contract As Spain Coach
The Spanish football federation revealed on Thursday that Spain coach Luis de la Fuente has agreed to extend his contract until 2026.
This extension ensures that he will lead the team at the next World Cup, held in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
The federation said extending Fuente’s contract was necessary to “provide stability to the national team preparing for the European Championships, which begin in June.”
Initially, his contract was set to end on June 30th, which would have coincided with the middle of the European Championship running from June 14th to July 14th.
Following Spain’s disappointing round-of-16 exit at the World Cup in Qatar in 2022, Fuente took over as the national team coach at the end of that year.
