My Early Music Videos Were Banned From TV Over Indecency — Tiwa Savage Reveals
In a recent conversation with BET, renowned singer Tiwa Savage opened up about the obstacles she encountered when she returned to Nigeria from the UK to chase her music dreams.
She shared how her music videos were deemed too provocative for TV and how she was banned from performing at shows due to her daring fashion choices.
Despite the hurdles and online criticism, Savage remained committed to staying true to her artistic vision.
“When I first moved back, I would turn up at a show and they would say I can’t perform because my outfit was too risqué,” Savage revealed.
“Even some of my first music videos were not played on television because they were considered indecent. I wasn’t even wearing bikinis.
“Despite the setbacks, I was still stubborn. My dresses were getting more revealing. It was just getting worse. They were bashing me online,” she concluded.
Interestingly, her fanbase continued to expand, fueling a growing demand for her music and live performances.
