UPDATED: FG Orders Extension of Free Ride On Abuja Metro
President Bola Tinubu has agreed to extend the period of free train rides on the Abuja Rail Mass Transit, commonly known as the Metro Rail, for an additional six months until the end of this year.
This decision comes after the initial two-month period announced by the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, to provide relief for commuters in the FCT.
Tinubu’s approval was given during his speech at the launch of the Abuja metro rail’s operations in Abuja on Wednesday, May 29.
His aim in extending the free rides is to bring hope to the residents of the FCT and offer them a reason to celebrate.
“Our dear landlord and his team, I heard you saying two months free ride. I appeal to you to make it till the end of the year. Since today you’re not going to charge me, that will give the people hope and reasons to celebrate,” Tinubu said.
