The Kano State High Court has recently adjourned the hearing of an application pertaining to the ongoing Kano Emirship tussle case to Thursday, July 4.

This adjournment comes following a motion ex parte filed by the Kano State Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Speaker Kano State House of Assembly, and Kano State House of Assembly, represented by their counsel, Ibrahim Isah-Wangida, on May 27.

The applicants are specifically seeking an order to prevent the 15th Emir, Aminu Ado-Bayero, and the four dethroned Emirs of Bichi, Rano, Gaya, and Karaye from portraying themselves as traditional rulers.

The presiding Justice, Amina Adamu-Aliyu, subsequently adjourned the case until July 4 for a hearing of all pending applications and originating motions.

Notably, on May 27, the court had issued an interim injunction order preventing the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th respondents from presenting themselves as Emirs to maintain peace in Kano.
