U-17 WWC: Flamingos Win FFP Award
Nigeria’s Flamingos were honored with the Fair Play award at the recently concluded FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in the Dominican Republic.
Led by Bankole Olowookere, the team exhibited exceptional sportsmanship throughout the tournament, resulting in them receiving the award for the fewest number of bookings.
Despite their exemplary conduct, the Flamingos were eliminated in the quarterfinals by the United States of America, losing 2-0.
They had a successful run in the group stage, winning all three games, before facing defeat against the strong American team.
The championship title was ultimately claimed by North Korea, who emerged victorious over Spain in the final with a 4-3 win on penalties.
