Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman has been included in the nominees for the 2024 Best Men’s Player award as part of the esteemed Globe Soccer Awards organized by the Dubai Sports Council.
The announcement of the nominees was made by the Globe Soccer Awards on Thursday through X platform.
Lookman, who previously played for Leicester City and RB Leipzig and is currently making waves at Atalanta in Serie A, is placed alongside football icons such as Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Kylian Mbappé, and Erling Haaland.
The roster of nominees showcases a blend of established stars and promising talents from the top leagues of Europe.
Noteworthy names from English football powerhouses include Phil Foden from Manchester City, Jude Bellingham from Real Madrid, and Cole Palmer from Chelsea.
The enduring dominance of Messi and Ronaldo is evident as they feature once again on the nominees’ list, underscoring their sustained brilliance as they progress in their football careers.
Competition for this year’s Best Men’s Player award is intense, with renowned players like Robert Lewandowski from Barcelona and Leroy Sané from Bayern Munich, as well as emerging talents like Bukayo Saka from Arsenal vying for the prestigious title.
In addition, the list includes Lamine Yamal, the rising star from Barcelona, along with noteworthy talents from La Liga such as Federico Valverde, Vinícius Júnior, emphasizing Spain’s ongoing football prowess.
The Globe Soccer Awards stated, “The nominees with the highest number of votes will form the shortlist of finalists in this category.”
“The 15th edition of the Beyond Development Dubai #GlobeSoccer Awards will take place on 27th December, alongside the 19th Dubai International Sports Conference, in partnership with the @DubaiSC Sports Council.”
