Nigerian Star Tobi Amusan Breaks Rabat Diamond League 100m Hurdles Record

In a dazzling display of speed and technique, Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan stormed to victory in the women’s 100m hurdles at the Rabat Diamond League on Sunday, setting a new meet record of 12.45 seconds.
This feat eclipsed the previous record of 12.51 seconds, held by American Brianna McNeal since 2018.
The race unfolded just before the main broadcast, with Amusan pulling away from a competitive field to establish a commanding lead. Her winning time not only set a new meet record but also marked her best performance of the season, reinforcing her reputation as the reigning 2022 World Champion and record holder.
Close on her heels was Nadine Visser from the Netherlands, who clocked a season’s best of 12.67 seconds to finish second. Poland’s Pia Skrzyszowska also impressed with a season’s best of 12.69 seconds, taking third place.
The event featured several other standout athletes posting strong times, including Ditaji Kambundji of Switzerland (12.71s SB), Italy’s Giada Carmassi who set a personal best of 12.81 seconds, and USA’s Destiny Huven (12.93s). The race was aided by a favorable wind of +1.2 m/s, contributing to the fast times recorded.
Amusan’s record-breaking run in Rabat highlights her continued dominance and signals her readiness for upcoming major championships.
