Davido Secures Silver Certification In UK With Global Hit ‘Timeles’

Nigerian music icon David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, has achieved the prestigious Silver Certification in the United Kingdom for his fourth studio album, Timeless.

This recognition, reported by music analytics platform Chart Data, follows the album’s impressive sales of over 100,000 units in the UK, qualifying it for the coveted silver plaque.

Released on March 31, 2023, Timeless showcases a rich blend of musical genres including Afrobeats, dancehall, reggae, konto, highlife, and Afropop. The 17-track album features collaborations with renowned artists such as Asake, Skepta, Dexta Daps, Fave, The Cavemen, and Angelique Kidjo.

The album was a commercial success, smashing multiple streaming records on platforms like Spotify Nigeria, Audiomack, Boomplay, and YouTube. It also earned Davido a Grammy nomination for Best Global Album, alongside a Headies nomination for Song of the Year.

One of the standout tracks, ‘Unavailable’, not only secured Silver Certification in the UK but also garnered a Grammy nomination for Best African Song Performance. Another popular song from the album, ‘Feel’, received a Grammy nod for Best Global Song Performance.

To promote the album, Davido launched the Timeless Tour, performing across North America and Europe, with stops in key cities such as Washington D.C., Toronto, New York, and London.
