BREAKING: U.S. Plans Military Invasion Of Nigeria Over Christian Killings
U.S. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth has unveiled plans for a military invasion of Nigeria aimed at eliminating rampaging bandits and terrorists responsible for the mass killings of Christians.
Hegseth made the announcement on Saturday, following President Donald Trump’s directive to U.S. troops to get ready for a possible offensive operation in northern Nigeria.
“Yes, sir. The killing of innocent Christians in Nigeria anywhere—must end and immediately. The Department of War is preparing for action,” Mr Hegseth said.
“Either the Nigerian Government protects Christians, or we will kill the Islamic Terrorists who are committing these horrible atrocities.”
A day earlier, Mr. Trump had designated Nigeria as a “country of particular concern,” citing persistent attacks and killings of Christians by Islamic extremists.
The declaration came after weeks of intense online advocacy led by prominent U.S. lawmakers including Ted Cruz, Riley Moore, and Nancy Mace, urging action over the violence.
Meanwhile, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) backed the campaign against what it described as “Christian genocide,” calling for urgent international intervention.
Responding to Mr Trump’s declaration, President Bola Tinubu, who had repeatedly denied the genocide in Nigeria, said, “Our administration is committed to working with the United States government and the international community to deepen understanding and cooperation on the protection of communities of all faiths.”
