See what new Chief of Staff to President Buhari’s primary duty is
The new Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, Professor Ibrahim Gambari, has explained what his primary duty is as the CoS to the president.
Prof. Gambari said his primary assignment as the Chief of Staff to President Buhari will be to report to the President and not the public.
Gambari’s appointment was confirmed by President Buhari during the virtual Federal Executive Council, FEC, meeting at the Presidential Villa on Wednesday.
While addressing State House Correspondents immediately after the meeting, the Chief of Staff appreciated President Buhari for finding him worthy to serve in his administration.
He also said that he would serve the President to the best of his ability.
He said, “I thank the President of the Federal Republic for giving me the opportunity to serve him and of course, the country”.
He also said: “we have not started, I’ll have to find out. I don’t report directly to the nation, I report to the President”.
“My guiding principle as the Chief of Staff would be to serve the President to the best of my ability,” he said when asked what Nigerians should expect from him as Chief of Staff.
This is happening after the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, on Wednesday formally presented him the new Chief of Staff to the President.
He presented Gambari to members of the Federal Executive Council (FEC).
The appointment was unofficially announced by some traditional and social media organisation on Tuesday, some quoting the Emir of Ilorin as their source, NAN said.
However, the SGF shortly before the commencement of the meeting of the FEC, confirmed that Buhari approved the appointment of Gambari as the new Chief of Staff.
