BREAKING! Everton Manager Sacked
Everton manager, Rafa Benitez has been sacked after six months in the club.
The announcement was made following Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to bottom of the league Norwich City, leaving the club in 16th place and six points above the relegation zone.
Benitez was a controversial appointment in the summer due to his previous ties with Liverpool and a run of one win in 13 league games did little to help his attempts to win over the fanbase.
Benitez becomes the fifth Everton manager to lose his job in the last six years, after taking over from Carlo Ancelotti.
It has been a tumultuous campaign so far for the Blues, with Marcel Brands’ earlier departure and Lucas Digne’s recent exit, compounded by a wave of injury and issues of covid.
According to Benitez after the defeat to Norwich on Saturday: “I have enough experience and I came here to fix issues that, maybe, are coming from five years ago.”
Everton owner Frahad Moshiri confirmed the sack.
