BREAKING: Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, Others Died in Helicopter Crash
Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi has died in a helicopter crash, according to state media reports.
The tragic incident occurred on Sunday in the country’s northwest, near the border with Azerbaijan, as Raisi was returning from inaugurating a dam on the Aras River.
The helicopter was carrying nine people, including prominent figures such as Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and Ayatollah Al Hashem, a representative of the supreme leader. Unfortunately, all on board perished in the crash.
The exact cause of the accident is still unknown, but poor weather conditions, including heavy fog, reportedly complicated rescue efforts. During his presidency, which began in August 2021,
Raisi was known for his hardline stance and strict policies, including a severe crackdown on political dissent and a significant increase in uranium enrichment, leading to heightened tensions with the West.
