Student Dies from Electrocution During Thunderstorm at University of Ilesa
A tragic incident occurred on Friday at the University of Ilesa when Gbolahan Ojolo, a first-year Business Administration student, was electrocuted while using his phone plugged into a charger during a thunderstorm. The lightning strike near his hostel at PEDI junction is believed to have caused the fatal shock.
Registrar Funso Ojo confirmed the death and said the university notified the police, who have started investigations. The body was taken to Wesley Guild Hospital morgue after due police clearance.
The university mourns the loss and has pledged support for the family. “Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, classmates, and the Department of Business Administration,” the registrar said
